Why do My AT&T Emails Go to Trash, and How can I Fix it?

If you see your emails are going to the trash or the wrong folder, it might be because of a wrong filter redirecting your emails to different folders other than the inbox. If you’ve set up filters, the settings may be routing some emails to the trash. We’ll recommend you do and/or check for a hacked account:

  • Reset Email password.
  • Update your security questions and answers.
  • Scan the computer to make sure you do not have infections.

The password you use to log in to your email and my AT&T are the common. So, if you change the password for your email account, your AT&T user ID password will change, too.

The following methods can be used to fix AT&T emails going to trash.

Examine all of these potential areas of vulnerability and make changes to recover your account entirely and remove all possible hack sources.

Step1: Change email password

Password Change minimizes the immediate risk to your AT&T email account. Once you verify all computers on your network are free of malware and all your email settings are valid, then again, change your password.

  • Make sure your password: Isn’t the same as your ID
  • It has eight to 24 characters.
  • Aren’t all letters or all numbers
  • It includes a mix of numbers and letters.
  • It doesn’t use your first or last name.
  • Isn’t your account number or email address

  • Select View Profile from the Top Nav Profile at the top of the page.
  • Select Sign in Info.
  • Select Change sign in password.
  • Change your password.
  • Save changes.

Step2:Create or update account security questions and answers

The security questions and answers set at my AT&T allow you to recover your account or change your account information.

  • Go to Profile settings and then Sign-in info.
  • In the Online security questions section, select Change security questions or answers.
  • Complete and save your security answers.

Step3: Secure your computers

Secure your network and computer against malware. Malware can steal passwords and personal information.

  • Scan all computers and networks with an up-to-date antivirus program. The AT&T Internet Security Suite powered by McAfee is free to qualifying members and covers antivirus, anti-spyware, and firewall protection.
  • Use an up-to-date anti-malware application, as antivirus scans do not detect some malware.
  • Ensure your operating system is updated with all the recommended security settings the operating system provider.

Step4: Review and update your email settings

Access your settings at top right corner. Review the following areas for suspicious activity:

Filters – Check for email filter settings

Email signature – Look for unknown or changed content.

Accounts – Check the email accounts listed. Select Edit to view your account details (s) and check for any unknown or incorrect accounts listed under POP or Forward. Verify the sender name, spam settings, and any other details. Delete any strange or incorrect accounts.

Blocked address – Verify that your email address is not in the Blocked Email Addresses list. If so, remove it, and select Save.

Check contacts – Be sure the data for your contacts is correct, and delete any strange or unfamiliar ones.

  • Filters: Look for suspicious filters and subtle filter names like ‘.’ (a dot).  Remove them and click the Save button. [Note, your stuff is going into your trash a filter may be the cause of this.

  • Accounts: Check the email accounts. Select Edit to view your account details (s) and check for any unknown or incorrect accounts listed under POP or Forward. Verify the sending name, reply-to address, spam settings, and any other details. Delete any unknown or incorrect accounts.

Step5: Login with new password And send a test email.

Now email is good to go, You will receive the emails in Inbox.
